It's hard to believe that it's been almost six months since I posted my first blog. I didn't even intend to set out as a blogger. Originally, I just wanted to write race recaps for my family, so they could read about my traveling, running and see my pictures. I couldn't figure out the best way to convey my story and then it dawned on me: that's what a blog does! (Duh!) Not only have I been writing, but I've also had the opportunity to connect with fellow runners who blog. One day I simply did a google search for "Pittsburgh running bloggers" and Kristy's blog popped up. I was really impressed by her website, race reviews, and her race resume including being a Boston Marathoner. Running books and magazines are a great place to read up on training and tips, but I always find that hearing other runners experiences is where I learn the most. I think I've already found some races I would like to do based on her reviews. She also has a page dedicated to other Pittsburgh-running-bloggers. I asked if I could be included and Kristy kindly obliged. Check out her great website here! Through Kristy's page I found Steff's page. I really enjoyed her enthusiasm about running. She is so enthusiastic that she even did the Goofy Challenge which is a half marathon on a Saturday followed by a full marathon on a Sunday! Read Steff's blog here! She's also a member of I'm Fit Possible. Once I clicked on the website for I'm Fit Possible, I was blown away by all the amazing people and blogs featured on this website. I didn't know which blog to read first! I knew I wanted to be a part of this dynamic, creative and energized group. I filled out the application and was thrilled to be accepted into this group! I'm excited for the possible opportunities with this group.
My best friend, Brynn, has also started to write a blog. I love reading Brynn's blog because we share many of the same interests (running, crossfit, yoga, etc.) but have totally different approaches to these interests. Brynn is calm and patient. I'm aggressive and impatient. I consider her to be my "zen master" of sorts. Whenever I'm stressing I think, "I need to be more like Brynn!" You can read her blog here! So what's next? I have my race recap of the Pittsburgh Marathon in the works. I'm also looking forward to participating more often in Crossfit now that marathon training is over. I'm thinking about returning to some 5ks this summer! I'm also looking forward to running just-for-the-fun-of-it and not being concerned with pace and how many miles I need to cover on a certain day. I'm also anxiously awaiting my first garden to appear in my Gronomics planter. (Thanks Mom and Dad!) I also want to say thank you to everyone that has been reading and following along with my blog. Often your words of encouragement inspired me to keep going (literally) with my running, crossfitting and my writing. I've tried so many new things this year and even accomplished things I didn't know I was capable of. I hope you feel inspired to try new things and do what you haven't done before. We are always capable of much more than we think we are. Yours in fitness, Sarah
